Tony Teegarden sat down with me(via skype) to discuss some of his philosophies on work, gaining clarity on the kind of life we truly want to live, and he also shared some valuable lessons he’s learned in his journey as an entrepreneur.

“I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren’t fit to live. You may be 38 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause. And you refuse to do it because you are afraid.

People are saying the world may be coming to an end in our lifetime. And I’m not talking about just your favorite fire and brimstone televangelist, or those often perceived environmental kooks. The world is now awakening to the reality of a truth that may just be stranger than any of Hollywood’s fictional depictions of the global climate threat we now face.

I think I was high when I first seriously asked the question. Stared it in the eyes. And no, this was not a Mary Jane induced conversation where all the existential questions were fair game. I’d had my share of those. This was just me, alone, on a sleepless night almost 7 years ago.

It seems relatively safe, but it can be torturous. And for many prisoners of war or cult initiates it is a particularly useful technique. The controllers withhold the ability for their victims to know what will become of them, or just important information in general. Just the fear of the unknown is enough to drive many of them crazy.
