2012 is here.  And I begin the year with a much shorter list of resolutions…or put differently…a distilled list of 3 renewed commitments.

Truth/truth, health, and money.

I could unpack each one with more than you might care to read.  But at the top of that list is truth/Truth.  My own truth journey, sporadically expressed here, but also lived out through the supporting and fostering of spaces where people can express those questions, and thoughts that go beyound just small talk.

During the earlier part of 2011 I was fortunate to help facilitate some weekly online discussions on twitter and facebook. #truthchat was born. Which was great. I got to come across as a really smart guy, while secretly getting to meet and learn from some great, mostly more informed people from all over the world.

At the end of the day, we were all just committed to reading more, having honest conversations, or at least trying too, while respectably giving voice to a variety of perspectives on life, God, and a variety of related topics.

We weren’t always “successful”, and untop of our weekly discussions, we tried to also read a book each month to talk about as well.

At times, it seemed like overkill.

But besides the world coming to an end…that’s what 2012 is all about right? The chance to improve.

So we begin again. With just a few tweaks. We are now less of an online book club(nothing against that), and more of an intentional discussion group.

When was the last time you could discuss your thoughts openly and honestly with others?

Have you ever wanted to have a good, safe discussion without fear of being attacked for having an opinion that is different?

If so…then feel free to join us. You can bring your own koolaid. As long as you don’t throw it anyone’s face.

#truthchat is a growing, loose network of online friends, bloggers, writers, and creative thinkers, from a wide spectrum of political, religious, & geographic backgrounds…who don’t necessarily want to be told what to think, but don’t mind learning how to think…better.  Even if it means having ones most cherished beliefs challenged.

We are hungry for the truth/Truth, don’t mind speaking honestly, and collaboratively wrestling with the BIG questions…about Human Existence, Work, Meaning, Creativity, Sex/Love, and everything in between.

And I think the year 2012, both literally, and figuratively, with its wide variety of political, economical, spiritual pontificating…begs that people continue this quest…of connecting, discussing, thinking, and exploring truth.

So how does it all work…

The format will be simple.

• Every week on twitter, at 9pm – 10:30pm EST, 5 questions will be asked related to an overarching subject.
• Each week, we’ll shoot for someone new to moderate the discussion. (We’ll switch things up from time to time, w/ guest interviews coming soon…)
• The hash-tag #truthchat is used to view the conversation.  At other times (outside of the official chat event) the hash-tag can be used to simply identify tweets that you think may be interesting to those in the discussion group.
• If you have thoughts on our weekly topics, that don’t quite seem to fit in 140 characters, feel free to join the #truthchat facebook group.
