Why I Half Believe In God

It’s one thing to gaze sanctimoniously over a church hymnal and speak about the reality of God, but its entirely another thing to look at pictures of flat bed trucks piled high with the mud caked, silent, naked bodies of children, and ask the question.

Escaping The In-Between Life(If Possible)

I’ve been thinking a lot about Faith lately. The proposition that suggest there is a dimension outside of our physical world, where a real Creator, or divine entity interacts with humanity. I’ve also been thinking about the things that get in the way of fully and firmly settling if this dimension exist. Saying you believe [...]

Praying Beneath A Noisy Ceiling Fan

I prayed for healing, more love, and clearer guidance today. A part of me wondered if it was worth it. If anyone really heard me. If somehow the clinking ceiling fan above my head was a bit too noisy. But a part of me desperately needed to experience contact. I needed, and wanted to know...

Red Lights Mean Grow

Red lights have gotten a bad rap. So has getting locked out of your house, or car.  Or getting a flat at 1:20am in the morning, when you happened to loan you brother your jack the week before, and..well..having to walk 6 miles to your house, in a light drizzle…with dress shoes… Highway drivers can [...]

Why Don’t You Rebel?

It's defined as a refusal of obedience or order. Wikipedia goes on to say that a rebellion can encompass anything from non-violent resistance, to violent, or organized attempts at overthrowing some established authority. History is full of examples of rebels who were responsible for this sort of rabble rousing. It shows the various philosophies they lived, and how they transformed the status quo with new ways of thinking.

Your Photoshopped Life

So I was watching this video a couple nights ago on theooze.tv Peter Rollins was discussing coming to grips with the truth about ourselves.  He uses the digital representations we use online(facebook/twitter,etc) to illustrate his point. Which is, that sometimes its easier to live through a “public profile”, which is “the idealized representation of ourselves.”  [...]

Little Red Lizard

I told myself, like you told yourself.  This wouldn’t happen again.  Driving away into the night, we muttered the silent promises people do when they’ve reached the end of themselves.  When they have discovered that they really are not just one person.  That we all have to fight a war between the best of ourselves, [...]

Doing it Again?

Sometimes you’ve come so far along a journey, and overcome so much, that the thought of revisiting your former self is revolting. But the honest truth is there, gnawing at the back of your brain.  And its annoying.  You know that there are areas in in your life, where it seems like the path winds [...]

A Life and Death Issue

I shuffled down the isle towards the front of the church, my view still blocked by the short disheveled line that had bottle-necked and huddled around the opened silver casket. Suddenly the group parted, and the sight seized my chest.  The cold, hard, truth, lay bare before my eyes.  Laying as if sleeping, but not [...]

Brace Yourself, Change is Possible

You will never see them move, but some may argue that the orthodontic process is a radical process. For anyone that has had to wear braces, you may understand.  I’m a late bloomer of sorts.  Finally opting to correct crooked teeth with some silver braces, and the promise of a Colgate smile.  The experience has [...]
